an extended choreographic research 2022
A SCORE SHARED
We have been visiting this site, a former quarry, a currently in-between empty-place, a space of potential and imagined futures. We approach it as a generator, as a contemporary ruin, as a practiced place, as a place of return and as a fertile ground of multiple framings and interpretations. We also approach it as a choreographic terrain, as an inhabited place both by human and nonhuman entities, where various uses are being manifested shaping its topography.
Drawing from that we attempt to imagine future tangible and non-tangible landscapes and spaces.
We invite you to co-shape an experience of this land/ place with us.
We invite you to navigate through the site.
You may follow the already existing foot-paths or draw your own trajectories.
Activate your whole self.
We want you to be sure to navigate safely.
We invite you to ‘document’ your work/experience (documentation does not need to be limited to photographs/ in a form that could be uploaded on a digital new space).
We invite you to share ‘material’ along with a 100 word description of your navigation/experience.
WHO ARE YOU?
Reflect on who you are on the day you activate this score.
Who is entering the site of the quarry?
Where do you start from?
What is your mindset before entering the site?
A privately owned public space
From private to public to practiced place.
MAKING FULL CIRCLES
Find your own circles. Move along with them.
Walk, run, stand, rest, lay down.
You may follow the already existing foot-paths but feel free to draw your own trajectories. Focus on repetition.
What are the patterns you can identify for yourself?
GO BACK TO YOUR HOLE(S)
Mentally try to link the site or any specific part of it to your own private space. If that spot was private, how
would you move about? How would it affect the way you move around?
Try to find a connection between those two ends – the public and the private.
A LEAP OF FAITH
Decide upon an action which best reflects breaking a barrier, a sense of liberation or a dare you pose on
yourself. Execute it
WINDOW TO THE WORLD
Think about landscape and the action of framing. Decide upon a frame and act upon it.
**Use this score as a way to navigate in this place, activating yourself as a whole (physical, sensorial, intellectual, empirical, intuitively).
Use walking, running, resting, lying as an active way to embody this experience and to produce (sensory, critical) thinking.
